MSC CRUISES ANNOUNCES MSC BELLISSIMA’S DEPLOYMENT TO ASIA IN SPRING 2020

MSC Splendida arrives in Asia after completing maritime Silk Road sailing

Geneva, Switzerland and Shanghai, China, 24 April 2018 – Today, on the occasion of MSC Splendida’s arrival in Chinese waters, MSC Cruises, the world’s largest privately-owned cruise line as well as leading cruise brand in Europe and South America, announced that MSC Bellissima will be deployed in Asia in Spring 2020. She will become MSC Cruises’ newest flagship for the region. MSC Bellissima, MSC Cruises’ second Meraviglia-class ship, is currently being constructed at STX France’s shipyard in Saint-Nazaire and is due to first come into service in March 2019.

Geneva, Switzerland – 1st May 2017 – MSC Cruises – the Swiss-based world’s largest privately-owned cruise line and brand market leader in Europe, South America and South Africa – announced today the opening of sales for MSC Bellissima. For her inaugural season, the ship, which is the much-awaited second of the Company’s Meraviglia-generation mega-ships, will set sail in the Western Mediterranean from March 2019. Sales are initially open exclusively for MSC Voyagers Club members, as one of the many benefits of the programme that rewards loyal MSC Cruises guests. They will open on 15 May for all other guests. The Msc Bellissima

The MSC Bellissima, Italian for “beautiful”, is the sister ship of the MSC Meraviglia and offers a gross tonnage of 171.598 tons and can accommodate about 4488 passengers (with double occupancy). In spring 2019, the MSC Bellissima was delivered and in its first season cruised the western Mediterranean on 7-day cruises. At a length of 315 meters and with over 33,000 square meters of space for public areas, the ship is generously designed. In addition, there are a number of technological innovations, such as Near Field Communication Technology (NFC), that allows passengers to pay via smartwatches, wristbands or smartphones on board, open their cabins or locate their children. Thanks to its extreme maneuverability, the MSC Bellissima can easily dock in almost every cruise port in the world.

Construction commences on MSC Bellissima, the third of eleven next-generation ships due to come into service over the next ten years

MSC Cruises, the Swiss-based world’s largest privately-owned cruise line and market leader in Europe, South America and South Africa, and STX France, a world leader in the construction of innovative cruise ships, held a traditional steel cutting ceremony at STX France in Saint Nazaire on Monday to mark the official commencement of construction of MSC Bellissima, the second of the Meraviglia generation of ships that will come into service in 2019.The first steel plate that will form the ship’s hull section was cut in front of a group of employees from both companies to celebrate another important milestone for both partners.
